200 students from Prey Veng province join ECCC study tour program

200 students from Hun Sen Po Rieng High School, Po Rieng District, Prey Veng Province, participate in a study tour organized by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), 26 April 2023, to learn about remember the atrocities committed during the Cambodian Dark Ages, the national liberation from genocide, and the trials of those atrocities.

All the students, in the study tour, visit the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, Choeung Ek Genocide Center, Win Win Memorial, and presented with officials from the Khmer Rouge tribunal about the achievements and trials of former leaders. High of Democratic Kampuchea. At the end of the day visit, all students received a wealth of information and knowledge about the trial of former Khmer Rouge leaders, the brutal torture and massacre of Cambodians by the Khmer Rouge, and the sacrifices of the Cambodian leaders in liberating the nation from the genocidal regime.

The student representatives praised and thanked the Khmer Rouge tribunal for organizing this study tour so that young people could better understand the history of Cambodia. They also thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia for leading this country to gain peace and develop in all sectors.

The ECCC outreach study tour is organized weekly for students, youth, and the public, as part of the remembrance and participation in preventing the return of the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge regime. Since the first court proceedings until today,2023, more than half a million national and international public have participated in the outreach study tours under the coordination by the Public Affairs Section of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal.
