ECCC Organizes a Study Tour for 150 High School Students from Kampot Province to Visit S-21 and Win Win Memorial

Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC), 16 August 2023, organized a study tour for 150 students from Bun Rany Hun Sen Braek Tadoung high school, Teok Chou district, Kampot province to learn about the Democratic Kampuchea history at Toul Sleng Genocide Museum and Win Win Memorialin order to participate in preventing atrocities like the Khmer Rouge regime.

At the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum, students were welcomed and presented a Public Affairs Officer of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal on the Achievement of the ECCC obtained from the trials and the residual works that the Chamber is currently conducting. Following their visit to the Tuol Sleng Museum, the students went on to learn the history of the Win Win Memorial.

At the end of the visit, the students are expected to gain a wealth of information and knowledge about the trial works at the ECCC, the brutal torture and massacre histories on Cambodians under the Democratic Kampuchea regime, and the sacrifices made by the Royal Government of Cambodia in liberating the country from that genocidal regime.

The weekly ECCC outreach study tour, coordinated and lead by the Public Affairs Section is conducted for students, young people, and the general public seeks to raise awareness about the atrocities committed by the Khmer Rouge regime. AS more than 500,000 members of the national and international public have taken part in outreach study tours since 2009 until the present day, 2023, with the Public Affairs Section of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal coordinating them.
