Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sala Traju Association on Cooperation, Training and Promotion of Legal Knowledge to Members of Sala Traju Association

A Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation, Training and Enhancing Legal Knowledge for Members of the Sala Traju Association was signed on 2 August 2023 between the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (ECCC) represented by H.E. Kranh Tony, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council of Ministers, and Acting Director of Administration of the ECCC with Sala Traju Association represented by Mr. TY Janith, Executive Committee President of Sala Traju Association.

This Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to improve collaboration on the exchange knowledge, legal expertise, research, and the practice of the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia to the members of the Sala Traju Association through a collaboration program of training programs that includes workshops, curriculum development for members, study tours, moot court at the ECCC and disseminating documents related to legal knowledge.

“ The signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is an implementation of the residual functions of the ECCC, in which Royal Government of Cambodia and the United Nations have agreed on the "Addendum on the Transitional Arrangements and the Completion of Work of the Extraordinary Chambers" for an additional three years, from 2023 to 2025, including: (A) Some legal works, including the management and dissemination of the ECCC’s archives; (B) Education and dissemination of the achievements and legacy of the ECCC and monitoring the enforcement of moral and collective reparations to civil parties,” said H.E Tony Kranh, Secretary of State of the Office of the Council Ministers, and Acting Director of Administration of the ECCC.

Mr. TY Janith, Executive Committee President of Sala Traju Association praised the collaboration with the Khmer Rouge Tribunal on training, legal knowledge advancement, and research in particular.

The signing of this Memorandum of Understanding is part of the sharing of experiences and the distribution of research documents to students and researchers in order to participate in human resource training and disseminate the ECCC's valuable legal achievements to humanity for the benefit of international justice promotion.
