Following the Supreme Court Chambers decision on 8 february 2013, the Trial Chamber issues a new severance decision, re-affirming its previous decisions to limit the scope of charges in Case 002/01 to alleged crimes against humanity related to the forced movement of the population from Phnom Penh and later from other regions (phases one and two), and alleged execution of Khmer Republic soldiers at Toul Po Chrey execution site immediately after the Khmer Rouge takeover in 1975.

The Supreme Court Chamber subsequently rejects appeals seeking to expand the scope of charges, ordering that further charges be heard in a new Case 002/02.

14 March 2013
Ieng Sary dies, and the proceedings against him are terminated the same day.

8 February 2013
On its decision on an appeal from the Co-Prosecutors, the Supreme Court Chamber annuls the previous decisions from the Trial Chamber limiting the scope of charges in Case 002/01.

8 October 2012
The Trial Chamber partially rejects and partially grants a request from the Co-Prosecutors to expand the scope of charges in Case 002/01, and decides to include charges related to the alleged execution of Khmer Republic soldiers at Toul Po Chrey execution site immediately after the Khmer Rouge takeover in 1975 in the current trial. 

5 December 2011
The evidence hearings in Case 002/01 commence.

21 November 2011
Three days of opening statements mark the opening of the substantive hearing in Case 002/01.

17 November 2011
The Trial Chamber decides that Ieng Thirith is unfit to stand trial and severs her from Case 002/01.

22 September 2011
The Trial Chamber decides to seperate the charges in Cases 002 into a series of smaller trials, and limits the scope of charges in the first trial Case 002/01 to alleged crimes against humanity related to the forced movement of the population from Phnom Penh and later from other regions (phases one and two).

27 June 2011
The trial in Case 002 commences with four days of initial hearing.
