DePaul University’s Law Students Paid Study Tour Visit to the ECCC Resource Centre

Seven students and a professor from the College of Law’s DePaul University based in the Chicago, U.S. on 17 January 2024 paid an official visit to the ECCC Resource Centre. The meeting of the visit kicked off with a presentation by H.E. Thaung Socheat, a Senior Management Officer of the ECCC, who spoke about the historical context of the ECCC, and the ECCC’s achievements and related works during a residual mandate. Next, Mr. Knut Rosandhaug, a Deputy Director of the Office of Administration carried out a presentation on “the operation of the court, challenges and the legacy of the court”. Mr. Hang Vannak, Chief of Victims Support Section (VSS) took turn to speak about the "victims' participation, reparation and related perspectives of international human rights law". The law students were also briefed by Mr. Em Chanthy, a librarian, about its services and collections available at the resource centre. At the end, students said they were satisfied with the meeting and thanked ECCC for organizing a meaningful visit and informative sessions in which they had a chance to get a better insight and understanding of the ECCC’s judicial processes, the cases, the operation and the legacies of the courts.
